Top 10 Twitter Strategies for Social Media Branding – When we talk about social media and personal branding, I think some people get confused and wind up simply focusing on forced branding branding branding.  They are fixated on it.  They are so focused on branding that they forget to be authentic – they lose sight of themselves and their identity.  Many seem so caught up in “creating” an identity, they forget who they are!  Branding is much more simple than most realize.

I love to attend social media events and interact with a lot of people.  Many times I see people who expound on branding branding branding.  They have read every book on every aspect of the subject.  My advice is not to do that, but rather sit with yourself.  Get quiet and find out who you are.

First, be yourself.  I call it being authentic.  I have written many blogs on this subject matter.  More importantly, once you can be who you are and do what you do and keep it simple and focused:  Boom!  That’s your branding.  I think that’s one of the reasons why Reality TV has become so successful.  We love shows and characters that are authentic at what they do.  Especially if they are unique characters that perform bizarre jobs or have uncommon skills that we have never seen before.
